Natural Beauty From The Inside Out: Green Breakfast Smoothies
by Fran Medina,
Hey Fran Hey
Let’s face it, most of us are pressed for time and usually eating on the run. I’m going to guess fresh ingredients or fruits and veggies are not always top priority! It’s important, though, to figure out a way to incorporate clean eating into jam-packed schedules. Natural beauty isn’t only about the products you use or the workouts you manage to squeeze in, but also the foods you consume. There’s no beauty regimen more impactful than healing oneself from the inside out. I’ve found Green Smoothies to be the best and quickest way to get my daily dose of much-needed vitamins, minerals and nutrients.
What are Green Smoothies? They are blended drinks that can serve as meal replacements and include fresh fruit and dark leafy greens. Drinking a tall glass of a nutrient-dense smoothie for breakfast is an incredible way to start the day. When your body is replenished with essential vitamins and minerals, many of which it is unable to create on its own, it has an easier time releasing toxins. Putting it to you straight, it keeps you regular! When your digestion is moving with ease, your health drastically improves. This results in radiant skin, stronger hair and nails, natural weight-loss and a major increase in energy. We all know an increase in energy is always ideal because it directly affects our motivation and focus for the rest of the day. Not to mention, the fruit serving gives you a healthy, balanced sugar fix that helps cut down on those junk food cravings.
You can throw in whatever your favorite flavors are so it can be enjoyable, but there are a few key nutrients to keep in mind so your smoothie is most beneficial. You want to include some Omega-3 Fatty Acids in the mix to promote scalp circulation and keep dry skin supple and moisturized. Vitamins A, C and E all help regulate your skin’s natural oils; making sure your body isn’t over or under producing them. This way you’ll be acne free and glowing. Dark leafy greens provide fiber and protein to aid with proper digestion. And there are tons of extra goodies you can add like wheat germ, which is packed with Vitamin E and helps with blemishes and uneven skin tone. Or you can throw in some spirulina powder, which helps increase energy, metabolism and aids in cellular health. There are no rules to making smoothies. Just endless health boosts packed in one tall morning glass!
