5 Transitioning Tools of the Trade
by Sharlyn Pierre
Sometimes it’s not how you’re using it, it’s WHAT you’re using. Shedding old hair habits can garner shiny new results. Here are our 5 Transitioning Tools of the Trade!
Silk Pillowcase- how many times have you heard your friends, family, or beautician rave about using one? Well, you can add our name to that petition. It’s one of the best nighttime routine beauty investments! Cotton pillowcases have a rougher surface so throughout 7-8 hours of sleep (if you’re lucky) it tugs at your hair causing breakage. Brings a new meaning to the phrase “hit the hay” doesn’t it?
Comb and Brush Combo- since you’ve decided to take the step into transitioning; you’ll need the right supplies to tackle tangling. Whether you’re going for the long grow out (curly or straight) having the right comb and brush can determine your frizz factor. We suggest sturdy paddle brushes if you’re going the curly route and large wide tooth combs for straight styles.
Blow dryer (with a diffuser)- We’ve made the tragic mistake of not only using a blow dryer without the diffuser, we’ve dried our hair entirely with it! Blow drying your hair until it’s completely and utterly dry, will leave it looking that way. Diffusers help to circulate the hot air and retain curls while giving them volume. No frizz. No fuss.
The Claw- these little guys help out a great deal when sectioning off your hair. Be sure to select various shapes and sizes, considering you will have different hair textures.
Heat Caps- We know some women prefer shower caps (and if ain’t broke…) BUT we can testify to moisture locked in once we switched to the Heat Cap. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on one, and you can re-use it over and over again and cuts time in half .
These are our go-to tools…since sharing is caring, what are yours?
