Theres still a bit of relaxer on my ends. Can I do a wash n go?

ELLE SAYS:

This depends on a number of things, in my opinion. I have seen wash and gos on transitioning hair look good, and I have seen them look not so good. First, if you have some wave or texture to your relaxed hair, you may be able to use a gel like Kinky Curly Curling Custard and scrunch your hair to give it more curl and volume. I personally did this when I decided to stop relaxing my hair for a few months, but the new growth eventually became too noticeable and the two textures looked strange. Some women have also had success finger twirling the last couple of inches of relaxed hair so they aren’t limp on the end of a head full of voluminous curls.

On the other hand, if your hair is relaxed bone straight or you have a lot of new growth, braid outs and twist outs may be better suited for your transitioning process. If your hair will not dry overnight (this is the issue I had), invest in a hooded dryer and sit under it for 30 minutes to an hour before going to bed.
