How long have you been transitioning and what made you decide to do so?
I’ve been transitioning for little over a year. I went into a natural hair salon to get a protective style (weave) simply for an upcoming vacation trip to Cabo San Lucas. I ended up keeping the style for 9 months and at that point I asked myself why go back to perms? It’s was thinning my hair, chemical burns and costly- like a bad relationship why go back! LOL Also, going to the natural hair salon open my eyes to the endless possibilities of being natural.
If your hair had its own personality, how would you describe it?
Deeply rooted and tough
What is your hair regimen and what are your hair care essentials?
My hair regimen is pretty simplistic right now since I’m sporting a protective style (two strand twist). My hair regimen is wash every 2 weeks, apply Carol’s Daughter black vanilla moisturizing leave-in conditioner apply pure coconut oil and pure shea butter.
What has been the best and hardest part of your natural hair journey?
The best part is seeing how thick my hair has become; it hadn’t been this thick in 15 years and the hardest part is wearing the two-strand twist. I'm not a big fan of them but it's a journey I have to take to reach my natural hair goal.
Who is your hair icon, and why?
My hair icon is Ms. Vaughn because her hair is beautiful and most of all healthy.
