A Heartfelt Letter To The New Mothers Of 2013
by Angela Carstarphen Watford
Hi New Mommys and New Moms-To-Be,
This year is going to be an amazing year for you. It will be full of new adventures, scares and joys. This year your baby will have many firsts, and so will you. There will be the first spit bubble, the first cold, the first fever, the first time they say ma-ma. Yes, your heart will melt and oftentimes it will feel sad and worried—even painful. But all these new, intense feelings are part of the motherhood journey. My advice to you is to love every moment and capture them, not only with your iPhone, but capture them in your heart, and remember them always.
Becoming a mom for the first time is the most precious time of your life. There is no other journey that allows you to transform into someone new; someone truly special. The transition from you as a wife or a single lady into you as a mother is miraculous. It’s an experience that only moms can understand. We now are responsible for more than one life. It is our responsibility to transition this little being into a respectful adult; someone who will make a difference in this crazy world. A world that’s so chaotic and ever changing, that we have to teach them to truly love who they are and stay comfortable in there own skin, much more than our parents had to when we were growing up. We, the new parents of 2013, have to make sure our children are prepared for anything. We, the new parents of 2013, have to make sure our children truly understand that “beauty” means so much more than what someone looks like on the outside. It means so much more than, hair, skin and makeup. We have to teach them that beauty is even more than skin deep; it’s what’s in their hearts.
So, mothers, get ready to wear your heart on your sleeve at all times for the rest of your life, because that’s what being a mother feels like. It can just as easily be scratched as it can be mushy, so shield it from uneccessary pain. Know that your family is your No. 1 priority, and it’s not just about you anymore—it’s about your new little “heart.”
Enjoy them and Congrats!
